AGV 160 - Anesthesia/Surgical Assistance

This course is designed to introduce the student to the common surgical procedures performed in the veterinary clinic. Emphasis is placed on sanitation, patient observation, surgical preparation, assisting in anesthesia and postoperative patient management.
Prerequisite: AGV 109  , AGV 133  , AGV 140  , AGV 145  , AGV 151  , AGV 165  , AGV 166  , AGV 170  , AGV 245

    2. Identify normal dental anatomy of common livestock species
    3. Demonstrate proper evaluation of oral disease
  7. Execute proper technique of dentistry procedures
    1. Demonstrate proper cleaning of teeth
    2. Demonstrate proper oral charting and documentation
    3. Perform full mouth dental radiographs
  8. Develop proper techniques for releasing animals
    1. Discuss information to be released to the owner
    2. Explain proper discharge instructions for post-surgical cases
    3. Instruct owner of proper return period for aftercare
