Financial Administration, AA

The AA in Financial Administration is designed for students who want to continue their education in Finance and/or Accounting at Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and University of Northern Iowa. It is designed for maximum transferability to these Universities and will also be the best option for students pursuing AACSB Accredited Universities outside of Iowa. Students who complete this degree will be able to enter the College of Business at these schools after taking the appropriate options required by each institution. (Contact an Advisor for each institution’s requirements.) Financial Administration will provide a competitive advantage to students seeking internships and employment by allowing them to take more Accounting classes during their first two years. Some of those options include advanced knowledge of Computer Accounting packages, Payroll Accounting, and Financial Analysis.

Students may start any semester.

Program Entry Requirements

  1. Complete an application for admission.
  2. Satisfy the assessment requirement.
  3. Attend any required information/registration session.

Graduation Requirements

To earn an Financial Administration AA degree, a student must complete the requirements for the degree, maintain a 2.0 grade point average and receive a grade of “C” or above in all ACC coursework.

What Else Should I Consider about this Program or Career Choice?


  • Reading, communication and math skills must be at the college level to gain maximum benefit from classes.
  • For career advancement and advanced position placement, it is important the student continue college coursework beyond the AA Financial Administration.
  • For transferability to four-year colleges and universities, the student should work closely with advisors and admissions counselors.
