CRR 312 - Blueprinting

This course covers the understanding of the blueprinting process and how it is important in a repair facility. Proper strategic disassembly and documentation will be studied in the classroom and lab.
Prerequisite: CRR 150  and CRR 311  
Corequisite: CRR 206  and CRR 521  
Competencies
  1. Compile photos to use within the estimating system
    1. Demonstrate how to take proper photos revealing damage
    2. Show photos in sequence to be able to write an estimate without vehicle present
  2. Identify importance of documentation before and during the estimate
    1. Show documentation and how it is important for the repair plan (notes and personal photos of specific items for later reference)
    2. Show identification and documentation of unrelated prior damage
    3. Explain what questions to ask about the accident while the customer is present
  3. Summarize pre-scan and post scans
    1. Show ability to perform a pre and post scan
    2. Explain signals to look for within a scan to address issues that could be present from an accident
  4. Determine importance of the blueprinting process
    1. Demonstrate an understanding of a repair plan and blueprinting
    2. Discuss how to blueprint a vehicle and how it effects the repair plan
    3. Show successful teardown of vehicle for blueprinting
  5. Interpret damage discovery after teardown
    1. Find damaged vehicle’s listed OEM construction materials
    2. Analyze damage on vehicle to determine appropriate methods for overall repair
  6. Analyze hidden damage to plot a repair plan
    1. Show ability to look past the obvious parts and see potential problems that may arise
    2. Show ability to determine if a part can be repaired or replaced
  7. Analyze OEM procedures
    1. Explain OEM procedures and how they are used in the repair plan
    2. Explain locating OEM position statements
    3. Compare availability of used and aftermarket parts according to OEM statements
  8. Analyze specific areas of interest on a vehicle involved in a collision
    1. Identify frame or structural damage
    2. Identify suspension and components for damage
    3. Identify possible mechanical damage
  9. Evaluate structural damage and capacity of a repair facility
    1. Show steps to take that will quickly determine structural damage
    2. Show ability to list what can be done in-house and the repair facilities capacity of certain repairs
  10. Identify advanced collision warning systems
    1. Find radar systems designed into modern vehicles
    2. Demonstrate ability to address issues that may arise from a repair and how to plan for the calibration
    3. Define camera systems, windshields, and how they relate to the repair
  11. Compile supporting documents in order to finalize a repair plan
    1. Show organizational skills laying out a clear plan for repair
    2. Show documentation of previously existing damage
  12. Create a supplement to an existing estimate
    1. Modify original estimate with newfound knowledge from the blueprinting process
    2. Complete modifications and adjustments for parts and repairs to finalize a repair plan for presentation
