CRR 311 - Vehicle Estimating

The course covers an understanding of writing estimates accurately, key estimating terms, and abbreviations. The course includes the skills to write a complete estimate using current labor and material costs. Understanding the use of P pages within an estimate along with computer-based estimating will be part of the course.
Corequisite: CRR 150  and CRR 406  and CRR 408  and CRR 520

  1. Summarize P-Page Guidelines and Terminology
    1. Find P-Page Information across all estimating systems
    2. Define estimating terms and abbreviations
  2. Develop proper procedures for completing an estimate
    1. List appropriate customer information
    2. List the appropriate vehicle information
  3. Identify key components to write an estimate
    1. Show locations of VIN number for vehicle to be estimated
    2. List the paint codes for vehicle to be estimated
  4. Determine different damage types
    1. Identify the difference between primary and secondary damage
    2. Identify repair options of panels or replacement on primary damaged parts
    3. Identify replacement options on primary damaged parts
    4. Identify the extent of direct and indirect damage and the direction of impact
  5. Create a computer-based estimate
    1. Develop an estimate based on the methods and sequence of repair 
    2. Classify the damage in proper sequence (front to back, outer to inner)
    3. Select the proper parts, labor, and material costs
  6. Determine forgotten items and preliminary estimate
    1. Identify what is forgotten on estimates
    2. Show the total cost from parts, labor, and materials
