HR421 - Family & Medical Leave Policy

All Regular employees of the College who have worked for the College for one year and who have worked at least 1250 hours over the previous 12 months shall be granted up to a maximum of twelve workweeks per twelve-month period of unpaid, job-protected leave for their or a covered family member’s serious health condition, or the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child, or a qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that the emloyee’s covered family member is on or has been called to active duty in support of a contingency operation. Employees shall be required to substitute any applicable accrued paid leave for the unpaid FMLA leave, and the leaves shall run concurrently. An eligible employee who is the spouse, son, daughter, parent, or next of kin of a covered servicemember who is recovering from a serious illness or injury sustained in the line of duty on active duty shall be granted up to 26 weeks of leave in a single 12-month period to care for the servicemember. This Military Caregiver Leave is available during “a single 12-month period” during which an eligible employee is entitled to a combined total of 26 weeks of all types of FMLA leave.
