  1. Institutional Regulations

    To provide operational guidelines for approval of campus clubs.
     
  2. Procedure
    1. Student organizations shall agree to operate in conformance with all rules and regulations established by the college administration.
    2. In order to obtain recognition as a student organization on the campuses of Des Moines Area Community College, the prospective organization must petition the appropriate Student Activities Council. The following procedures must be completed in respective order:
      1. New clubs must draft a constitution following guidelines provided by the SAC. Existing campus clubs may carry forward their existing constitution from year to year.
      2. The completed constitution will be submitted to the Student Activities Office.
      3. A new club recognition form should be submitted with the constitution that includes the name of the full time faculty or staff advisor and at least 5 members in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) in accordance with the guidelines provided in the Campus Club Handbook.
      4. The Coordinator of Student Activities will determine constitution approval or denial according to the guidelines provided in the Campus Club Handbook. These guidelines shall include:
        1. Procedures for Recognition
        2. Rules for Recognition
        3. Requirements of a Student Organization
        4. Guidelines for Club Approval and Funding
      5. After a new club constitution has been approved by the Coordinator of Student Activities, the constitution must be submitted to the Student Activities Council at the next regularly scheduled meeting for SAC approval.
      6. Upon acceptance of the group’s constitution by the SAC, the Student Activities Office will notify the club of its approval.
      7. New clubs applying during the fall semester of each fiscal year will be eligible for the full funding allotment. New clubs applying during the Spring Semester will receive a prorated allotment.
