ES4528 - Postsecondary Transfer Credit Evaluations Procedure
Section: EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROCEDURES
SubSection: ACADEMIC AND STUDENT AFFAIRS
Master List Section: Student Services
- Institutional Regulations
The College shall insure that transfer credit evaluations for students who have postsecondary educational experiences prior to DMACC enrollment are conducted in accordance with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Department of Education, and other accrediting agencies’ guidelines.
- Procedure
- Official transcripts of prior educational experiences are to be submitted to the Admissions Processing Office. Students submitting an official transcript in a language other than English must also submit a transcript that has been translated by an approved translation service such as World Education Service or Educational Credential Evaluators or as determined by the DMACC registrar. It is the responsibility of the student to insure that this requirement is met. Students are responsible for all costs associated with evaluation services.
- Students entering degree programs may transfer in no more than 43 credits. Students in diploma and certificate programs may transfer in no more than 2/3 of the credits in the program.
- Acceptable transfer credits must have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.00. All credit eligible for transfer is recorded on the DMACC academic record. Grades earned elsewhere are disregarded in the computation of the DMACC G.P.A.
- Transfer credit may be accepted from institutions accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) or a comparable regional accrediting agency, The Association for Biblical Higher Education and The Commission of Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.
- Transfer Credits accepted from other colleges or universities are granted in accordance with the guidelines as established by the American Council on Education (ACE), the United States Armed Forces Institute, and the Community College of the Air Force.
- For college transfer students, courses for which there is no DMACC equivalent will be designated as electives.
- Credit granted for CLEP, Challenge Testing, Advanced Placement Program Exam, and the College Level GED/HiSet or equivalent is awarded per institutional guidelines.
- Degrees received from other schools do not automatically satisfy DMACC’s requirements. Credit accepted in transfer by another school does not automatically constitute acceptance by DMACC.
- No credit will be awarded for courses designated as Continuing Education Units (CEU).
- The appropriate transfer credit will be entered on the student’s permanent record.
- An official evaluation letter and transcript outlining approved transfer credit will be delivered or mailed to the student and an evaluation of Transfer Credit form with all transcripts and supportive documents will be placed in the student’s permanent record.
