ES4525 - Articulation Agreement Procedure

The College will articulate courses with other institutions of higher education.
- Procedures
- The contact person to begin the Articulation Process will be the Director of Student Development. The Director will forward the appropriate paperwork to the originating institution and then inform the appropriate dean(s) of the academic area(s) or campus dean(s) of the request. The originating college will also be notified of their contact person(s) at DMACC.
- After parties from both institutions have drafted an agreement, the draft copy will be given to the DMACC Articulation Review Committee (ARC) for study of content, readability of format, etc., and to make recommendations if needed. A checklist of articulation requirements will be developed to make assessment consistent. The committee will be composed of appropriate faculty and/or deans, DMACC Student Services staff and a representative from Curriculum and Scheduling.
- Recommendations from ARC will be given to the drafters of the articulation agreement for them to review the recommendations and determine to either adopt or deny them. The originating institution will author the final copy of the articulation agreement.
- Once the appropriate staff from the originating institution signs the Articulation Agreement form, the form should be forwarded to the appropriate dean(s) at DMACC. The Dean(s) will then be responsible for having the appropriate personnel sign the agreement form. The signed agreement will then be sent to Curriculum and Scheduling along with the course/program equivalency guide.
- The original copy of the agreement with signatures will be housed in Curriculum and Scheduling. Master copies will be sent to the Student Development Office.
- Student Development will distribute copies to other campuses and various departments on the Ankeny Campus.
- Revisions:
- If outside institutions revise their curriculum, it will be their responsibility to contact DMACC to update the Articulation Agreement.
- If DMACC revises a program, it will be the responsibility of the “developer” and/or Dean of that area to evaluate the current articulation agreement and make recommendations for changes. Those recommendations will be forwarded to the Assistant to the Sr. Vice President of Academic Affairs, Curriculum and Scheduling, who will contact the appropriate personnel.
