ES4450 - Satisfactory Progress for Veterans Procedure

The College shall outline procedures for monitoring satisfactory academic progress of students receiving VA education benefits. The College shall comply with Federal and State regulations for veterans enrolled under 38 USC, Chapter 31, and will be monitored by the Vocational Rehabilitation and Counseling Division of the Department of Veteran Affairs. Satisfactory progress for students enrolled under 38 USC, Chapters 30, 33, and 35 and under 10 USC, Chapter 1606 will be monitored by the Veterans Services Office.
- Procedure
- Satisfactory progress for students who receive VA education benefits will be monitored for each term of attendance.
- Students will be identified who:
- Did not enroll in courses applicable to their current program of study.
- Did not maintain an academic standing of Conditional Enrollment at the minimum (See ES4560 for Satisfactory Academic Progress standards).
- Did not maintain satisfactory attendance in courses or programs that require the college to monitor attendance.
- Recipients of veterans benefits will be notified if the course(s) in which they are enrolled are not applicable to their degree requirements.
- Recipients of VA education benefits will only be certified for courses that are applicable to their current program of study.
- Recipients of VA education benefits will only be certified when registered for courses. Those who fail to maintain an academic standing of Conditional Enrollment at a minimum will not be able to register for courses and therefore will not be certified for VA education benefits.
- Certifications submitted to the VA will be adjusted or terminated, as appropriate, for recipients of VA education benefits who are dropped for non-attendance (QA).
