ES4060 - Faculty Performance Appraisals

  1. Scope
    1. To establish a procedure for faculty performance appraisals.
  2. Institutional Regulations
    1. Each contractual employee in the instructional division will receive, as a minimum, the following evaluations:
      1. Probationary employees: at least twice during each academic year.
      2. Full-status employees: at least once every third academic year.
  3. Procedure
    1. The annual evaluations will be recorded on the Contracted Faculty Performance Appraisal (P-31). (See attached).
    2. Evaluations will be conducted by the supervising dean/campus executive dean or director.
    3. All evaluations will be discussed personally with the employee. Each will be signed by the supervisor and employee to show that the evaluation was discussed.
    4. Each supervisor will base evaluations on the following criteria: knowledge of subject matter, effectiveness in teaching techniques, responsiveness to student needs, commitment to professional growth, and contributions through non-instructional activities.
    5. All Performance Appraisals will be forwarded to Human Resources prior to February 1 of each academic year.
