BS5517 - Parking Permits Procedure

- Scope
To provide necessary information to administrators, instructors, staff and students regarding acquisition of required parking permits and to enumerate rules and regulations pertaining thereto.
- Institutional Regulations
All motorized vehicles parked on college property by students and employees shall have a parking permit affixed in the designated position on the vehicle to assure orderly parking in specified parking lots. All administrators, instructors, students and staff shall abide by rules approved and published by appropriate college authority and applicable city or state regulations. Enforcement of these rules and regulations shall be the responsibility of the Director, Physical Plant through a regular security force.
- Procedure
- Permanent or part time college employees who drive vehicles which regularly utilize college parking lots from the hours 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. at Urban Campus) shall secure and permanently affix a permanent staff parking permit to each vehicle. Permits must be secured and properly displayed on any staff vehicle using college parking lots within five days of employment. Vehicles with staff permits displayed are restricted to parking in designated staff parking lots. Staff parking permits are secured from the office in Building 12 on the Ankeny Campus or the Business Offices at the Carroll, Boone, and Urban campuses.
- Full time or part time students who drive vehicles which regularly utilize college parking lots from the hours 7:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. at Urban Campus) shall secure and permanently affix a student parking permit to each vehicle. Permits must be secured and properly displayed on any student vehicles within five days of the beginning of a newly scheduled class. Vehicles with student permits displayed are restricted to parking in designated student parking lots.
- Temporary permits may be secured by college staff or students for periods not to exceed two calendar weeks when it is necessary to drive and park on college property a vehicle which will not be utilized permanently. Proper information as designated on the permit will be required along with an authorizing signature. Temporary permits will be designated “Staff” or “Student” and only appropriately designated parking lots are to be utilized. All published regulations which apply to permanent permits also apply to temporary permits. Special temporary parking procedures may be enacted to accommodate short term programs of instruction not exceeding four weeks duration.
- All vehicle permit holders must comply with published, authorized parking regulations. Violators of these regulations will be subject to college citations and assessments as published and any city, state, or federal regulations which apply. Violations of college regulations can result in revocation of parking privileges after due formal written notification. Parking regulations are enacted as recommendations from the Parking Rules and Regulations with approval by the Executive Council.
