BS5514 - Remodeling Requests

    Physical Plant shall perform or contract approved remodeling work, when planned within departmental budgets and approved by appropriate administrators in accordance with Procedure BS5412  and BS5413 .
     
  2. Procedure
    1. All remodeling requests changing an employee’s office location or requiring changes in permanent walls, must have the approval of the Vice President, Business Services.
    2. All remodeling work exceeding $5,000 valuation (labor and material) must be planned, estimated and approved during preparation of fiscal year budgets. Departments may request minor remodeling work outside of the budget cycle only if it does not to exceed $5,000 and funding is available.
    3. All remodeling shall be requested on the Work Request form and supported by supplemental sketches, drawings, or blueprints. Only remodeling estimates approved in the final budget can be considered. Allow at least 30 days before start of planned remodeling work.
    4. After completing the remodeling request and securing appropriate signatures, the request and supporting documents should be delivered to Physical Plant. A detailed estimate using current material costs and plant operations labor or contractor-vendor costs shall be prepared. The estimate shall include necessary drawings, blueprints and anticipated schedule details. When the estimate is complete, Physical Plant shall contact the requester and explain the project estimate. If changes are required, new estimates shall be made. When the scope of work is agreed and if estimates are within budgeted amounts, Physical Plant shall schedule the remodeling work.
      1. Labor charges to be billed shall be at the current departmental average rate including cost of fringe benefits.
      2. Material charges shall be made at actual College cost.
