CRR 206 - Fundamentals of Vehicle Design

This course covers the understanding of new vehicle construction and use of materials on modern vehicles. Knowledge of disassembly and reassembly will be included.
Prerequisite: CRR 150

  1. Identify plastic / composite parts on vehicles
    1. Identify bolt on hatches and or other composite parts

  2. Evaluate vehicle design
    1. Identify designs of vehicle and types of vehicles
    2. Identify materials used and identify HHS, UHSS, intrusion beams, aluminum, and general construction materials
  3. Interpret OEM repair procedures
    1. Explain how to find OEM repair procedures
    2. Interpret how OEM procedures are needed in repair facilities
    3. Summarize the use of OEM procedures and how they are incorporated in a repair
    4. Identify one time usable parts as per OEM guidelines
  4. Demonstrate vehicle disassembly and reassembly
    1. Show removal and installation of additional bolt on items
    2. Show removal and installation of removal sheet metal
  5. Demonstrate bolt on panel fitment and installation
    1. Demonstrate panel alignment and adjusting proper gaps on unibody and full frame vehicles
    2. Demonstrate installing sheet metal without damaging the panel or adjacent panels
  6. Demonstrate adjustment of parts and remove and install parts necessary to refinish a part
    1. Demonstrate proper fitment of movable parts
    2. Demonstrate removal and install of interior components
  7. Develop prioritize personal organization
    1. Show how to organize fasteners
    2. Demonstrate proper use of parts carts
    3. Summarize how organization effects facility’s flow
    4. Plan time management during repairs
  8. Compare types of collision damage
    1. Analyze transfer of energy during a collision
    2. Classify the effects of collision energy on bolt on panels
    3. Distinguish primary and secondary damage
  9. Develop a repair plan
    1. Determine how a repair plan is made for a vehicle repair
    2. Evaluate the needed steps to repair a vehicle start to finish, process and time it takes
