Associate in Science with a Biotechnology Certificate

The Biotechnology combination Associate in Science Degree with the Biotechnology Laboratory Methods Certificate provides students with ​both the transferable Associate of Science Degree and the Biotechnology Laboratory Methods Certificate providing employable, hands-on skills. Graduates will be prepared to transfer into a wide range of science majors, or start a career in the biological sciences with the option to continue their education anytime in the future.

Program Graduation Requirements


To earn an Associate in Science with a Biotechnology Certificate, a student must complete all required coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

Complete 3 semester credit hours to satisfy the Diversity Requirement with a minimum grade of “C.” The Diversity Requirement does not increase the number of credits required for graduation. The course used to fulfill the Diversity Requirement may also be used to fulfill three credits of Core requirements in Communications , Social & Behavioral Sciences , Humanities or Distributed Requirements , providing the diversity course is listed as fulfilling Core requirements in Communications, Social & Behavioral Sciences or the Humanities. If the course does not fall under any of the Core groups, the course used to fulfill the Diversity Requirement may count as an elective.

  • Record, analyze, summarize and present data
  • Properly use, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Prepare reagents and chemicals used in the laboratory
