The Animation and Rich Media AAS could prepare students for positions in the Animation and Rich Media industry. Students learn individual job skills that aid in the process used in completing a final production project. Production team members usually perform these skills in relationship to the project guidelines and schedules. This vast skill set includes, but is not limited to illustration of concepts, storyboarding, scriptwriting, use of 3D software, audio, video, and other related software.

Students start Fall semester
This is a full-time program. To complete this program, students must take daytime classes; not all classes are offered at night. Graduation Requirements
To earn an Animation and Rich Media AAS, a student must complete all coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point. Total Credits Required to Complete this AAS Degree - 71

What Kind of Work Will You Do?
- Use animation to communicate messages and ideas to others
- Use traditional art and animation principles in animation projects
- Develop the characters and environment sketches as a Concept Artist
- Create digital characters, objects, and environments
- Create special effects for live action film and television.
- Create quality assets for film, television, video games, and more.
- Plan, budget and produce animation projects
- Edit, finish and render animation projects
What Skills and Abilities Will You Need?
- Have good computer skills.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to follow directions, instructions and take direction from supervisors, clients and co-workers
- Attention to detail, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new procedures and software technical skills quickly and independently.
- Teamwork, collaboration and the ability to take direction from supervisors, clients and coworkers to improve your work.
- Manage your time to meet established deadlines, work on multiple projects, and stay within a project budget.
- Work long hours on a computer using specialized design software.
- Desire and discipline to spend whatever time it takes to complete complicated projects.

- Constantly evolving industry requires motivation and lifelong learning to stay up-to-date with technology.
- Must learn and use multiple software applications and stay current with updates, adapt to change and be able to learn on your own.
Program Competencies
- Communicate information using industry terminology and methods used in a work environment.
- Demonstrate the following communication skills: listening, writing, presenting, critiquing, and teamwork.
- Create believable assets and movement using reference and research material.
- Visually communicate ideas and concepts using traditional and digital illustration skills.
- Produce animations using industry software and following a production pipeline.
- Apply the Principles of Animation to all projects.
- Execute an effective job search strategy by preparing a demo reel and other media.
- Apply time management methods to meet project deadline.
