What Kind of Work Will You Do?

• Mowing, fertilization, pesticide application, aeration, top dressing and marking of commercial, and recreational turf areas.

• Understanding of turf in response to human, climate, and soils influences.

• This may initially lead to seasonal employment only; experience over time may lead to full-time employment.

Program Competencies

1. Identify factors that influence plant growth.
2. Correlate soil characteristics with their impacts on plant growth.
3. Demonstrate understanding of plant taxonomy, morphology, physiology and pathology.
4. Determine proper plant selection, planting, pruning and other cultural practices.
5. Establish positive safety practices and procedures.
6. Demonstrate basic job and human relation skills
