1. Engage in the professional residential design process
   1. Conduct client interviews and translate feedback into programmatic needs and design goals.
   2. Employ design problem-solving and critical thinking to create functional and aesthetic residential solutions
   3. Document the design process through drawings, written notes, and visuals that communicate intent and progress
2. Develop and refine residential space-planning concepts
   1. Generate multiple floor-plan concepts that address client requirements and site opportunities
   2. Explore spatial relationships through diagrams, adjacency matrices, and conceptual studies
   3. Integrate design principles supporting function, circulation, and proportion across interior and exterior living areas
3. Produce and render residential design drawings
   1. Create floor plans, elevations, perspectives, and details using hand drafting or digital platforms such as Revit, SketchUp, or 2020 Design Flex
   2. Render drawings to convey materials, lighting, and finishes through traditional or digital media
   3. Present drawings and visuals to clients in a professional format that clearly communicates design intent
4. Design and detail kitchen and bath environments
   1. Apply NKBA and industry standards in the planning, layout, and detailing of kitchens and baths
   2. Develop cabinetry, appliance, and fixture plans using 2020 Design Flex or comparable tools
   3. Incorporate sustainable, ergonomic, and universal-design principles into kitchen and bath layouts
5. Select and document furnishings, finishes, and equipment (FF&E)
   1. Research and specify materials, finishes, and furnishings that align with the client’s goals and project concept
   2. Prepare documentation and visuals that communicate selections, sources, and specifications clearly
   3. Integrate cost estimating and budgeting strategies into material and product decisions
6. Integrate current and global design trends
   1. Explore and apply contemporary design themes such as sustainability, wellness, and aging in place
   2. Analyze global and cultural influences impacting modern residential design
   3. Incorporate relevant trends into the semester client project as appropriate
7. Communicate design concepts through client-focused presentations
   1. Develop presentation materials-such as mood-board posters, digital slideshows, and curated finish trays-to convey the design concept
   2. Present design concepts to guest clients and review panels through professional verbal, visual, and digital communication methods
   3. Engage in iterative feedback sessions with clients, refining the design solution based on discussion and critique
8. Design a custom furniture or feature element
   1. Conceptualize and model a custom furniture or built-in element that supports the overall design concept
   2. Produce drawings or 3D models demonstrating proportion, material intent, and function
9. Demonstrate professional growth and reflection
   1. Maintain professional conduct in all client and peer interactions throughout the semester project
   2. Reflect on client feedback, project management, and presentation performance to assess growth in design, communication, and professional readiness
