A primary focus of the course will be on evidence-based design. This will encourage students to develop conceptual, innovative, and dynamic workspaces. Prerequisite: INT 213 Prerequisite OR Corequisite: INT 136 Competencies
- Investigate office spaces including various functional requirements in offices
- Research systems furniture
- Research basic employee needs
- Study current trends and research in office design
- Research employee well-being movements
- Research latest technology
- Research environmentally friendly interior practices
- Develop a program for the provided office client
- Identify client needs
- Analyze design problems
- Generate preliminary design diagrams and matrices
- Create bubble diagrams
- Analyze adjacency matrix
- Translate bubble diagrams to block diagrams
- Build an inspiration board and preliminary concept sketches
- Develop plans that follow required code regulations
- Design fully executed floor plan
- Apply knowledge from lighting class to designing lighting plan
- Input plans into Revit
- Produce sections, elevations, and detail drawings
- Select finishes, materials, equipment, and furniture for office space
- Collect spec sheets for furnishings, fixtures and equipment
- Revise floor plan to reflect customizations
- Create renderings showcasing furnishings, finishes and equipment
- Prepare 3D perspectives of designated spaces using Revit and Enscape
- Devise a rendered floor plan using Photoshop and Revit
- Compose final presentation
- Compile spec book
- Create presentation poster using Adobe suite
- Print poster on large format printer
- Present final design to a review panel
