NET 966 - Capstone Project Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 12 Course Type: General This course provides hands-on experience in a significant project involving technical competence, critical thinking, assessment, applied competencies and skills from program coursework, communication, and documentation. This course can be used as an alternative to internship to ensure graduation requirements are met in a timely manner.
Learners will design, propose, and complete a project based on their research and areas of interest. Once the project is approved, learners will produce milestones and present their project at the end of the term. Prerequisite: Instructor Permission Competencies
- Research a topic or area of interest in the fields of IT, programming, digital forensics, networking, information systems security, information assurance, cloud, or other areas within cybersecurity
- Identify resources in the given area of interest
- Identify a project, problem, or concept in the chosen area
- Develop a summary project proposal
- Formulate a strategy to complete a project in a systematic fashion with given constraints of time, budget and other resources
- Outline details of the project
- Identify resources and budgetary items
- Create a timeline using an industry standard approach (eg, a Gantt chart)
- Generate necessary project reports
- Create a formal project proposal
