PNN 228 - Foundations of Nursing I

This course focuses on the care of clients across the lifespan. Knowledge, competencies, and skills needed are emphasized to provide safe and evidence-based care for the patient with health alterations. Students are encouraged to apply the nursing process/clinical judgment model as a decision-making framework to assist in developing effective clinical judgment skills. This course integrates holistic care, professional identity, communication, safety, and clinical judgment in the delivery of care. It also integrates evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, safety, cultural sensitivity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professionalism throughout the course. Students are provided with the opportunity to apply course concepts and demonstrate skills in a laboratory and clinical setting.
