DRA 232 - Advanced Movement for Actors Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech An in-depth exploration of movement technique for actors. Training and experimentation in truthful, healthy, and dynamic physicality for actors preparing to enter the acting industry. This course also includes construction of a physical warm up, focus on effective use of gesture, and application of movement work for actors to acting material. Prerequisite OR Corequisite: DRA 148 Competencies
- Integrate an understanding of an actor’s physical potential
- Examine habitual physical tendencies
- Experiment with the natural range of dynamic physical qualities in the context of material for actors
- Incorporate acting terminology into exercises that support the growth of dynamic physical choices
- Break down how fundamental acting terms are applied to dynamic movement production for actors

- Construct a warm up that provides sustainable dynamic movement work in the professional acting industry
- Distinguish each step of a physical warm up for actors

- Experiment with meaningful movement theories that are applicable to professional acting environments
