This is a preparatory course for fashion and interior design students taking the Internship I.  With this course, students will compile an effective and professional resume package to aid in the acquisition of an internship within their chosen career area.  There will also be components including interview prep, professional image, negotiating job offers, navigating conflicts in the workplace, establishing connections within the industry, and creating professional networking profiles.

    2. Identify companies of interest 
    3. Research companies prior to interview 
  5. Develop writing skills needed in today’s professional world
    1. Create a professional resume rough draft
    2. Practice revising a resume rough draft for a specific job
    3. Compose a cover letter to pair with your resume
    4. Complete a job application for a potential internship
    5. Write thank you letter(s)
  6. Model effective communication skills
    1. Review and prepare to answer likely interview questions
    2. Compile a list of appropriate interviewer questions 
    3. Practice the necessary steps to accomplish a successful interview
    4. Explore different networking tools & opportunities
    5. Investigate & utilize conflict resolution techniques
    6. Describe the process of negotiating job offers
    7. Compare salary negotiation methods
