DRA 132 - Acting II Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: General Building upon Acting I, this course provides in-depth training in the craft of acting, with focus on executing dynamic and captivating truthful performances. Course includes exercises, analysis, and memorized scene work. Prerequisite: DRA 130 Competencies
- Analyze all assigned characters
- Decide what analysis and scoring is strongest in support of clear and effective storytelling
- Develop effective, clear, and succinct character analyses and scored scripts
- Show an improved grasp on semantics
- Create a performance for memorized scenes and/or monologues
- Perform each memorized scene with truthful behavior in relation to the given circumstances of each performance
- Apply dynamic character analysis and scoring
- Incorporate the ability to fight against emotion in imaginary circumstances
- Determine when emotion is present as a by-product
- Develop tools to truthfully fight against emotion in the context of storytelling
- Discover theatrical metaphysics
- Break down the conditions present when a story is brought to presence
- Produce moments that truthfully exist within the full imaginary circumstances of a play or story
- Incorporate truthful behavior in substantial moments of silence
- Prove an ability to clearly relate truthful behavior within effective storytelling to an audience
- Develop an ability to be heard and understood by audiences on a consistent basis
- Demonstrate the skill of motivated movement that allows the audience to consistently see the visual elements of the story
- Assess how effective performances are
- Evaluate one’s own acting
- Develop an ability to constructively receive feedback
