The course will examine the role of both government and private enterprise in securing one of the most vulnerable and important industries worldwide. The course will discuss the threats to this industry with a view toward passenger, cargo and infrastructure protection. Strategies and policies to improve and protect the system will be discussed. - Analyze terrorism within different modes of transportation
- Define terror possibilities within US Borders and examine potential threats
- Identify terror possibilities internationally and determine what transportation modes are vulnerable
- Examine transportation terrorist threats and events and measure vulnerabilities and risks
- Explain law enforcement and military options to solve threats in transportation
- Show interdependency between nations to safeguard US from transnational terrorists
- Appraise vulnerabilities and threat characteristics of transportation systems
- Outline how to eliminate these vulnerabilities
- Develop processes to evaluate transportation systems against future threats
- Illustrate procedures to form cooperation with federal, state, and local law enforcement maximize border security
- Demonstrate effective technology and procedures to improve border security
- List cultural concerns and propose how to secure borders and allow for legal immigration
