BUS 932 - Internship Credits: 2 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 8 Course Type: Voc/Tech This course requires the completion of 120 hours of successful on-the-job training with a cooperating employer. Emphasis must be specific to career goals and complimentary to their program of study. (This course is Pass/Fail.)
Prerequisite: Completed 30 credit hours towards degree, and Instructor or Advisor Approval Corequisite: BUS 902 Competencies
- Evaluate duties completed through an internship
- Utilize knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for business careers
- Use effective communications skills for employment
- Develop techniques of good listening
- Apply the ability to carry on a professional conversation
- Develop an awareness of the importance of appropriate communication skills for varying business situations
- Recognize importance of retraining and learning new skills
- Apply techniques and skills learned in program course work
- List the required business skills involved in the internship
- Learn to work under pressure
- Develop habits of organization, and accuracy in the execution of work activities
- Develop goals and objectives that measure directed activities and performance standards
- Select goals related to internship activities
- Develop performance standards to determine when goals are achieved
- Implement strategic thinking
- Plan beyond the present to prepare for future challenges and opportunities to broaden skills, interest, and experience
- Develop alternative courses of action relying on logical assumptions that are supported by factual information
- Observe college and employer policies, procedures, and regulations

- Follow all company standards while completing internship
