Develop an understanding of the environment you live in. Learn more about the role you can play in creating a sustainable lifestyle for yourself and your family at home, work and school. Competencies
- Explain the concept of sustainability and need for sustainable thinking in all human activities
- Define the concepts of sustainability, sustainable development and sustainable living
- Analyze the effects and consequences of their own lifestyles on the natural environment through Eco-Footprint and Carbon Footprint assessments
- Assess their values, practices, and commitment to the environment
- Improve upon their own resource management practices within their homes and communities
- Identify a plan to reduce household waste
- Identify a household plan to conserve and protect water supplies
- Identify a plan to reduce household energy usage
- Identify a plan to incorporate sustainable transportation practices into their lifestyle
- Identify a plan which will allow them to reduce unnecessary consumption of goods and services without reducing perceived quality of life
