MLW 444 - Advanced Equipment Techniques Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech This course gives the student the opportunity to become proficient on the following equipment and associated software: CNC router operation and programming; Point-to-Point Machine Center operation and programming; Molder operation including template making, setup and maintenance; Beam saw programming, operation and maintenance; Edgebander operation programming and maintenance. Prerequisite: MLW 440 , MLW 441 , MLW 442 , MLW 443 Competencies
- Demonstrate proficiency at operation and programming of CNC router
- Draw and generate NC code for cabinet parts
- Home the CNC and setup and touch off tooling
- Set machine and mill parts
- Set up riser supports and set new home to mill parts on riser
- Demonstrate proficiency at operation and programming of P to P machine center
- Draw and generate NC code for cabinet parts
- Home the P to P and setup and touch off tooling
- Set machine and mill parts in A and D fields
- Set up fixtures and mill small parts
- Demonstrate proficiency at grinding knives, setup, operation and maintenance of moulder
- Produce custom knives
- Demonstrate proficiency at understanding all controls and maintenance items on moulder
- Setup all spindles on moulder and run moulding
- Demonstrate proficiency at operating, programming and maintaining a beam saw
- Start up and operate beam saw in various manual modes
- Create program for beam saw using Cabnetware.
- Operate beam saw in automatic mode
- Demonstrate knowledge of general maintenance of beam saw
- Demonstrate proficiency at Edgebander operation and maintenance
- Set up and operate the Edgebander for various types of thicknesses of edgebanding and part types
- Show how to program the PLC controller for a specific banding operation
- Perform maintenance on the Edgebander including the following
