Civil Engineering Technology Diploma

The Civil Engineering Technology Diploma curriculum is for individuals who want to develop or refresh their technical skills in the area of civil engineering technology. This diploma prepares the student for entry-level careers in materials, surveying, construction inspection and design. Career opportunities with this diploma are with construction firms; surveying firms; materials testing labs and the state department of transportation.

Upon graduation with the Civil Engineering Technology diploma, students may choose to pursue an AAS degree in Civil Engineering Technology  .

Program Details

This program is designed to start in the Fall semester


Students who desire to start in other semesters may be accepted, but may not graduate in three semesters due to the sequencing of coursework. If starting other than Fall, please contact the Civil Engineering Technology department.

  1. Complete an application for admission.
  2. Satisfy the assessment requirement.
  3. Attend any required information/registration session.

Graduation Requirements


To earn a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, a student must complete all coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

What Kind of Work Will You Do?


This program educates future engineering technicians to help design, construct and maintain our civil engineering infrastructure.  Graduates of the Diploma program can expect to find work in materials testing, inspection, or on surveying crews.

What Skills and Abilities Will You Need?


Students need to satisfy the required college assessments and obtain a minimum ALEKS math score to be placed in MAT 773, Math for Technicians.  The diploma program requires algebra level math skills.

What Else Should I Consider about this Program or Career Choice?


Placement is nearly 100% for graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology programs.  With a diploma, graduates can expect to earn an average starting salary $33,000.  (based on 2016 placement results for students with the one year of CET completed coursework)
