The Associate in General Studies degree provides students an opportunity to select their coursework to meet specific educational goals and interests. The AGS degree is generally not designed to meet college transfer requirements. Students wishing to complete an AGS degree are encouraged to consult with a counselor or advisor on their campus for assistance.

Associate in General Studies Requirements
To receive an AGS degree, students must:
- Maintain a 2.0 grade point average on all work applicable to the AGS degree.
- Earn at DMACC a minimum of 1/3 of the semester credit hours applicable to the degree being pursued. No more than 43 transfer semester credit hours may be applied toward the degree.
- Complete no more than 8 semester credit hours of Independent Study courses; no more than 4 credits of Independent Study may be earned in a single semester.
- Complete a minimum of 12 semester credit hours at DMACC after the AGS program approval effective date of January 1, 1992. E. Satisfy the following AGS Degree Requirements:
- Communications 3 credits
- Social & Behavioral Sciences 3 credits
- Math & Sciences 3 credits
- Distributed Requirements 4 credits
- Plus Electives 51 credits

Semester 4

Total AGS Degree Requirements - 64 Credits
Communications - 3 Credits
Social & Behavioral Sciences/Humanities - 3 Credits
Mathematics & Sciences - 3 Credits
Distributed Requirement - 4 Credits

- Students must select the remaining 3 credits from any of the courses in categories of Communications, Social & Behavioral Sciences/Humanities or Math & Sciences or SPC 101 or SPC 122 or ELT 368 .
