The purpose of the Sales certificate is to provide persons with knowledge of the basic principles of selling and marketing and the elements of human relations and communication required to enter the field of selling. This program is offered both during the evening and the day. The certificate also provides for a smooth transition into the Marketing and Management two-year degree programs.

Program Entry Requirements

  1. Complete an application for admission.
  2. Satisfy the assessment requirement.
  3. Attend any required information/registration session

Graduation Requirements

To earn a Sales Certificate, a student must complete all coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

These credits are also applicable to the diploma in Sales & Management  , the diploma  or AAS degree in Fashion/Design  , the AAS degree in Management  and the AAS degree in Marketing  .

What Kind of Work Will You Do?


  • Prospect for people to buy goods or services.
  • Make appointments to make sales presentations and follow up.
  • Keep records of people contacted, points discussed and follow-up promised.
  • Listen carefully for what is needed by others.
  • Study new product lines and services and fit them to clients’ needs.
  • Write letters and reports, use the telephone, make presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Prioritize work tasks on a daily basis.
  • Attend meetings to hear and discuss company business and procedures.

What Skills and Abilities Will You Need?


  • Communicate effectively with clients and company personnel.
  • Approach clients in a professional manner (telephone techniques, appointments, etc.).
  • Pursue and complete all steps in the selling process.
  • Plan and organize work tasks.
  • Accurately calculate business and financial math problems.
  • Speak effectively before groups.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of marketing approaches and functions.
