Turf Maintenance

The Turf Maintenance certificate will allow students to earn recognition for work completed in the area of turf maintenance. This certificate will provide students with the opportunity to develop specific skills related to the maintenance of such turfgrass areas as lawns, parks, athletic fields and golf courses.

Students start any semester.

Program Entry Requirements

  1. Complete an application for admission.
  2. Satisfy the assessment requirement.
  3. Attend any required information/registration session.

Graduation Requirements

To earn a Turf Maintenance certificate,  a student must complete all coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

 

Semester 2 (Summer)

These credits are applicable to the AAS degree in Horticulture  .

Costs can be reduced by renting textbooks or buying e-texts. Students can expect to spend up to an additional $100 for field trips and membership in professional organizations.

What Kind of Work Will You Do?


  • Mowing, fertilization, pesticide application, aeration, top dressing and marking of commercial, and recreational turf areas.

What Skills and Abilities Will You Need?


  • Understanding of turf in response to human, climate, and soils influences.

  • This may initially lead to seasonal employment only; experience over time may lead to full-time employment.
