The purpose of the Fashion certificate is to provide specialized skills to individuals who are currently employed in or wanting to enter the apparel and accessories field. Courses will help the student learn retailing and selling procedures while developing fashion awareness.

Fixed Costs

Varied Costs
Approximate total textbook cost for the certificate is $750.
Students can expect to spend $100 - $150 per course on textbooks. Costs can be reduced by renting textbooks or
buying e-texts.

What Kind of Work Will You Do?
• Participate in a team effort in developing and promoting the sale of fashion merchandise.
• Design visual presentations to project seasonal trends that generate customer excitement.
• Work with customers in the development of career or leisure wardrobes.
• Merchandise the sales floor, planning merchandise placement and presentation.
• Demonstrate excellence in providing quality customer service.

• Coordinate colors, styles, fabrics and designs.

What Else Should I Consider about this Specialist Certificate?
• The certificate coursework leads into either a Fashion diploma or Fashion/Design A.A.S. degree.
• Career areas are diverse in the fashion industry and jobs are numerous nationwide; continuing education teamed with related
work experience leads to advancement opportunities.
• Work schedules may vary to include some evenings and weekend hours in retail careers.
• The fashion industry attracts individuals who enjoy variety in their jobs, regular people contact, an environment to be creative,
and the ability to earn based on performance.
