Computer Applications

The Computer Applications certificate provides students with a basic understanding of the computer applications that may be performed in an office. A student will be able to use the following applications: word processing, database, desktop publishing, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet, email, internet and operating systems.

To successfully complete this program a student must complete all coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. A grade of “C” or better is required in the first course of a sequential course offering before enrolling in the second-level course of the sequence. This includes

Students start any semester.

Not all courses are offered at each campus every semester.  Academic advisors are available to assist with scheduling.  It is strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor each term.

Program Entry Requirements

It is suggested to meet with an academic advisor prior to applying for this program.

  1. Complete an application for admission.
  2. Satisfy the assessment requirement.
  3. Attend any required information registration session.
  4. Using the DMACC testing center, demonstrate a minimum keyboarding speed of 35 nwpm (net words per minute) on a 5-minute timed writing.

Graduation Requirements

To earn a Computer Applications certificate, a student must complete all required coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

These credits are applicable to the diploma in Office Assistant and the AAS degree in Administrative Office Professional.
