What Kind of Work Will You Do?

A computer programmer goes through the process of designing, writing, testing, debugging and maintaining the source code of computer programs. The computer programmer also designs a graphical user interface (GUI) to make the software easier for non-technical users to use through easy, point-and-click menu options. Python is a language also used in web development and data science related positions.

The median annual wage for computer programmers was $84,280 in May 2018. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $48,790, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $134,630.
