The Accounting Certificate is designed to provide basic financial knowledge in the accounting field and/or enhance current job skills. All of the classes will allow students seamless transfer into either the Accounting & Bookkeeping diploma or Accounting Specialist program. Additionally, it offers accounting credentials that complement other degrees and adds additional skills to a student’s resume.

Students may start any semester.


Program Entry Requirements


  1. Must complete ACC 104  , 1 year of high school accounting, or ACC 131  with a C or better. 

Graduation Requirements


To earn an Accounting Certificate, a student must complete all coursework as prescribed, maintain a 2.0 grade point average and receive a grade of “C” or higher in all ACC coursework.

Total Credits Required to Complete this Certificate: 25


These credits are applicable to the AAS degree in Accounting Specialist .

Note:


Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution should check with that institution regarding math requirements before selecting courses for this program.

What Else Should I Consider about this Specialist Certificate?


  • Each hour of class requires two to three hours of preparation.
  • Reading and math skills are very important.
  • Career advancement will ordinarily require further training and education.
  • Regular classroom attendance is important for continuity of learning.
