The Associate in Science in Artificial Intelligence program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI). The comprehensive curriculum offers hands-on learning with AI applications and use cases, covering essential concepts and tools such as machine learning, data visualization, classification, natural language processing, and computer vision techniques, with a strong emphasis on ethical considerations and responsible AI development. To earn an Artificial Intelligence, AAS , a student must complete all required coursework as prescribed and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

  1. AI Developer-Development, implement, and maintain business intelligence solutions, including data models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  2. AI Specialist-Utilize logic and reasoning patterns expertise and creative writing skills to develop high-quality prompts in various context and applications.
  3. Data Analyst- Work with cloud-based AI tools to implement machine learning models to clean and prepare data for analysis by subject-matter experts to review to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies in data.
  4. AI Developer-Development, implement, and maintain business intelligence solutions, including data models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  5. AI Specialist- Work on AI projects, collaborate with teams to integrate AI technologies, and utilize logic and reasoning patterns to develop high quality prompts in various context and applications.
  6. AI Ethics Consultant: Ensure AI projects adhere to ethical guidelines, conduct ethical reviews, and provide recommendations for responsible AI use.
  7. Data Analyst- Work with cloud-based AI tools to implement machine learning models to clean and prepare data for analysis by subject-matter experts to review to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies in data.
  8. Machine Learning Technician - Assist in building and testing machine learning models, preprocess data, and evaluate model performance.

What Else Should I Consider about this Program or Career Choice?


Through a partnership with Intel, DMACC is proud to launch the first of it’s kind program in the state of Iowa. This program will be cross-disciplinary in nature, with the Math & Science Pathway and Education, Communication, & Humanities Pathways. Students will have a capstone course in areas such as agriculture, business, manufacturing, and sustainability.

Program Competencies


  1. Understand the basic concepts, techniques, and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning, including supervised and unsupervised learning
  2. Develop proficiency in programming languages commonly used in artificial intelligence (AI), such as Python
  3. Understand software development principles and practices
  4. Gain skills in data collection, preprocessing, and analysis, including the use of data visualization tools
  5. Apply mathematical and statistical methods essential for AI
  6. Understand the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI technologies, including issues related to privacy, bias, and fairness
  7. Develop the ability to apply AI techniques to real-world problems in various domains, such as natural language processing, and computer vision
