The Emergency Management Certificate prepares students for a career in such areas as local, state, tribal, and federal emergency management positions in public, private, and volunteer organizations. All students must complete the core courses in sequence for the certificate program, with one elective class in an area of primary interest. The certificate is intended to be completed in two semesters.
NOTE: Students who have a criminal background history may make it through the program, but it is NOT likely that they will find employment in the Emergency Management field.

Program Graduation Requirements
To earn a Criminal Justice, Emergency Management Certificate, a student must complete the standard core requirements for the certificate, plus one of the select courses and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Option 1 - Select 3 Credits

- Students who have a criminal background history may make it through the program, but it is NOT likely that they will find employment in the Emergency Management field.
- This is a highly rewarding field with a great number of careers, including Federal Emergency Management Agency, emergency management specialist, state training officer, emergency manager, preparedness coordinator, emergency management director.
- This award is fully online.

- Examine the five mission areas of prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery based on industry standards.
- Produce effective communication, verbally and in writing, using appropriate references and technologies.
- Apply critical thinking skills to emergency management issues.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with other agencies and organizations in a professional, respectful and constructive environment.
