What Kind of Work Will You Do?

This program educates future engineering technicians to help design, construct and maintain our civil engineering infrastructure.  Graduates of the Certificate program can expect to find work in materials testing, inspection, design, or on surveying crews.

What Skills and Abilities Will You Need?

• Knowledge of operating surveying equipment.
• Be able to perform inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of CAD software used in the civil engineering industry.
• Communicate with counterparts in civil engineering.
• Understanding of technical manuals and literature to upgrade existing skills and learn new skills.

Placement is nearly 100% for graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology programs.  With a Certificate, graduates can expect to earn an average starting salary of $40,000.

Program Competencies

1. Perform the requirements of a construction field inspector.
   
2. Demonstrate a basic understanding and usage of Computer Aided Drafting software and its applicability to Civil Engineering.
   
3. Create basic Highway Designs.
   
4. Demonstrate the basic use of surveying equipment by measuring distance, direction and location accurately.
