MAP 554 - Human Body-Health & Disease IICredits: 4 Lecture Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech Students will incorporate critical thinking skills based on knowledge of course competencies to identify human anatomy and physiology, including interrelationship of organ systems and homeostasis in the healthy body. Also covered will be common pathology, diagnostic aids and treatment options, including pharmacology related to each body system. Study of the interaction that occurs between systems and changes to the structure and function that occur across the life span as well as patient education procedures. Safety procedures will be reviewed with each unit. Internet research will be used for a variety of health topics. Units studied: lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, nutrition, nervous, sensory, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, common childhood diseases and end-of-life care. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in MAP 544
