MAP 621 - Employment Readiness Credits: 2 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech Students update resumes, participate in mock interviews, and explore the application process for current medical assistant career opportunities. This course also focuses on preparation for the national certification exam for the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Prerequisite: Successful completion (80% or above) of all Medical Assistant courses. Corequisite: MAP 620 Competencies
- State documentation needed for applying for certification
- Locate the AAMA certification exam application
- Complete the AAMA certification exam application
- Describe steps necessary for a job search and application process
- Update resume to include learned skills and education to meet job requirements for a medical assistant
- Demonstrate interviewing skills and appropriate appearance for an interview
- Complete mock job interviews
- Develop 3 questions to ask the interviewer
- Participate in mock examinations in preparation for the national certification exam.
