MOR 317 - Funeral Directing Operations Credits: 1 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 1 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech This course will provide the student opportunities to simulate technical tasks related to funeral service such as receiving a notification of death and transfer of remains. The student will observe and assemble various religious, fraternal, and military visitation and funeral rites. Prerequisite OR Corequisite: MOR 301 Corequisite: MOR 316 Competencies
- Demonstrate simulated technical tasks common to funeral service establishments
- Demonstrate proper procedures for receiving a notification of death
- Execute a transfer(s) of remains
- Compare and contrast the visitation customs of veterans, fraternal, and various religions
- Assess the items which are needed during various fraternal, religious and military visitations
- Construct visitation setups based on religious, military, and fraternal customs
- Compare and contrast the funeral customs of veterans, fraternal, and various religions
- Assess the items which are needed during various religious and military funerals
- Describe funeral rites for various religions and veteran services
- Create a secular funeral ceremony
- Construct a themed ceremony based on a given scenario
- Present the ceremony within professional parameters
