This course introduces some guiding principles of ethics for the application of AI in a responsible manner. Students get a chance to explore different ethical frameworks, which will help them navigate the pitfalls of unethical uses of AI and help evaluate the impact of unintended consequences of non-responsible use of AI.
Competencies

Evaluate the role of responsible use of technology
1. Explain how artificial intelligence (AI) brings greater good to society
2. Analyze ways to mitigate bias and protect data
Examine the role of ethics in building responsible AI solutions
1. Distinguish principles of Ethical AI
2. Relate human-centered AI, transparency, fairness, autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and privacy
Compare common ethical pitfalls of AI
1. Identify bias, unintended consequences, non-compliance, and privacy violations
2. Explore ways to avoid them
Evaluate various approaches, such as rule-based, top-down, bottom-up, for designing ethical AI
Explain how to use relevant frameworks for analyzing ethical dilemmas
Assess the impact of AI solutions and their various ethical implications
1. Develop plans to mitigate unintended consequences 
2. Formulate a plan for ensuring the ethical use of AI post-deployment of a proposed solution
Create a code of AI ethics for individuals and organizations to analyze, evaluate, and critique current AI use
