ELE 272 - Line Maintenance Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 4 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech Students will learn how to perform maintenance and troubleshooting techniques. Students will gain experience operating equipment and tools for vegetation management. Prerequisite OR Corequisite: ELE 249 Competencies
- Perform a line inspection using regulatory requirements
- Repair line deficiencies identified during line inspection
- Summarize common maintenance and repair items
- Describe abnormal operating conditions
- Document deficiencies to provide information for corrective action
- Identify troubleshooting methods for transmission and distribution systems.
- Develop corrective action to repair or replace abnormalities
- Analyze conditions that pose a possible hazard to pubic or loss of service
- Examine conditions to determine root cause of outage
- Complete chainsaw safety training
- Demonstrate proper use of chainsaws
- Identify proper PPE to be worn while using equipment/tools
- Complete wood chipper safety training
- Demonstrate proper use of wood chippers
- Identify proper PPE to be worn while using equipment/tools
- Create maintenance and safety records for equipment
- Document safety inspection results
- Generate records related to maintenance work
