Students will learn how to perform maintenance and troubleshooting techniques. Students will gain experience operating equipment and tools for vegetation management.
Prerequisite OR Corequisite: ELE 249  
Competencies
 

  1. Perform a line inspection using regulatory requirements
    1. Repair line deficiencies identified during line inspection
    2. Summarize common maintenance and repair items
  2. Describe abnormal operating conditions 
    1. Document deficiencies to provide information for corrective action
    2. Identify troubleshooting methods for transmission and distribution systems.
  3. Develop corrective action to repair or replace abnormalities 
    1. Analyze conditions that pose a possible hazard to pubic or loss of service
    2. Examine conditions to determine root cause of outage 
  4. Complete chainsaw safety training
    1. Demonstrate proper use of chainsaws
    2. Identify proper PPE to be worn while using equipment/tools
  5. Complete wood chipper safety training
    1. Demonstrate proper use of wood chippers
    2. Identify proper PPE to be worn while using equipment/tools
  6. Create maintenance and safety records for equipment
    1. Document safety inspection results
    2. Generate records related to maintenance work
