- Compare and contrast national organizations that influence the respiratory therapy profession
- Discuss the impact of quality, patient safety, and communication
- Define electronic health records (EHR) and their major uses in medicine and respiratory care
- List the common components of a medical record
- State the legal and practical obligations in record keeping
- Explain closed-loop communication
- Promote patient-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally aware care by identifying health barriers
- Promote effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams through teamwork and debriefing
- Assess a patient at the bedside
- Interview a patient to assess mental status, symptoms, history, and barriers to learning
- Perform a patient assessment including physical assessment, general appearance, skin flaws, vital signs, pulse oximetry, and chest assessment

- Assemble and troubleshoot medical gas delivery equipment such as oxygen concentrator, liquid system, flowmeter, regulator, gas cylinder, blender, air compressor, and gas analyzer.
