IND 146 - Mech Power Transmission I

A course in fundamental mechanical power transmission used in manufacturing. Topics covered include the inspection, maintenance and repair of chain and belt-driven equipment.

    1. Select a fastener size and type for a motor mount

    1. Use a Prony brake to measure shaft torque
    2. Calculate rotary mechanical power
    3. Calculate mechanical efficiency

    2. Install a pillow block anti-friction bearing and shaft
    3. Install flexible jaw coupling

    2. Install an SKF laser shaft alignment system
    3. Use a laser alignment system to correct soft foot
    4. Align two shafts with a laser alignment system
    5. Determine shaft alignment tolerances for a given machine installation
