IND 246 - Industry Tech Logic Controller

This course teaches how to program, operate, and interface programmable controllers in a variety of industrial applications.
Competencies
  1. Interpret operation of electric relay sequence control circuits
    1. Interpret a power diagram
    2. Evaluate the operation of 2-step electric-relay sequence circuits
  2. Implement a micro programmable controller (PLC) system
    1. Describe the basic operation of a programmable logic controller
    2. Perform startup and normal shutdown of a micro-PLC system
  3. Transfer programs between a micro-PLC and PC via point-to-point Ethernet
    1. List the Ethernet IP address system for point-to-point
    2. State the basic operation of a point-to-point Ethernet network
  4. Evaluate a basic PLC ladder logic program
    1. Distinguish the elements of a PLC project
    2. Recite operation of a basic PLC ladder logic instructions: normally open, normally closed, output coil, internal coils, and timers
  5. Operate a PLC
    1. Monitor PLC status using I/O indicators and software
    2. Change PLC operation mode to Run or Program
  6. Program a basic PLC logic program
    1. Review the symbolic, absolute discrete I/O address system
    2. Design a basic PLC ladder program
    3. Test an implemented PLC ladder design
