CRJ 303 - Intel Analysis & Sec Mgmt Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Open This course is an examination of the field of intelligence analysis and its role in the security of the United States and its citizens. The course examines current trends in the intelligence world. Additionally, the course explores the role of operations, operators, source development and the ever-changing world of spy versus spy. Competencies
- Differentiate collection methods for obtaining intelligence
- Summarize each of the following “INTs” and the advantages/disadvantages of each: OSINT, HUMINT, SIGNIT, GEOINT, CYBERINT, & MASINT
- Demonstrate when to use specific collection methods to obtain raw information
- Characterize steps of the Intelligence Cycle
- Define which intelligence cycle step is being used when planning, collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting on finished intelligence products
- Relate how the direction and dissemination step of the Intelligence Cycle is provided by and given to decision or policy makers
- Examine the different methods of Structured Analytical Techniques when assessing intelligence
- Summarize the application of the Key Assumptions Check to real-world situations
- Explain the assertion that most intelligence failures are of analysis rather than collection
- Evaluate the different Constitutional Mandates regarding the Intelligence Community
- Conclude how a lack of oversight led to intelligence abuses
- Determine the legal, ethical and moral considerations of controversial measures being used by the Intelligence Community
- Create simulated intelligence briefings on select topics compiling Open Source Intelligence
- Choose estimative language and sound reasoning to predict and forecast terrorist activities
- Elaborate findings and conclusions using the Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) format
- Analyze domestic and foreign threats to national security
- Classify the specific sectors and vulnerabilities of critical infrastructures throughout the U.S.
- Examine the probability of terrorist activity in the U.S.
