ADM 105 - Intro to Keyboarding

The focus of this course is learning to type on the alphabetic and numeric keyboard using correct fingering and using touch typing. Proper keyboarding technique is covered.
Competencies
 

  1. Demonstrate touch typing skills on the alphabetic reaches, figures, and symbols not using the Backspace key
    1. Key alphabetic material by touch at a minimum of 30 NWPM or better
    2. Key alphabetic material by touch with a minimum of 95% accuracy
  2. Demonstrate touch typing skills on the numeric keypad using the 10-key keypad
    1. Key numeric data by touch at a minimum of 8,000 KSPH or better
    2. Key numeric data by touch with a minimum of 98% accuracy
  3. Use Proper Keyboarding Techniques
    1. Demonstrate correct hand positioning, finger placement, and posture while using the touch method.
    2. Explain the five keyboarding posture rules that should be followed
    3. List the proper keyboarding finger reaches
  4. Improve Speed and Efficiency
    1. Develop strategies to increase efficiency through practice and use of online typing tools
    2. Evaluate personal typing progress and set goals for improvement
    3. Reflect on keyboarding skills and their application in a professional setting
  5. Key straight copy by touch for 3 minutes in a timed writing
    1. Key alphabetic material by touch for 3 minutes at a minimum rate of 30 NWPM or better not using the Backspace key with a 2-word deduction for each error
    2. Key numeric material by touch for 3 minutes at a minimum rate of 8,000 KSPH or better with a 98% accuracy
