ES4505 - Maximum Course Load

  1. Institutional Regulations

    Students may not exceed the maximum course load established by Des Moines Area Community College without obtaining special permission.
     
  2. Procedures
    1. For the student’s benefit, the maximum course load has been established.
    2. Students will not be allowed to register for more than a maximum course load of 19 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters or a maximum of 12 credit hours during the summer term.
      1. Students may request to exceed the maximum course load only by submitting a written request for exception to the Director of Student Development, Registrar or or Campus Designee.
      2. The request will be reviewed and a response will be sent to the student prior to the start of the semester. Requests submitted after the start of the semester will be reviewed as soon as possible.
      3. Request for exception must address why the student wishes to take an overload, present evidence of previous successful completion of college courses and demonstrate an understanding of the DMACC Academic Standards Policy (ES4560 ).
      4. Request for exception will not be accepted if the student is not currently in good Academic Standing (as defined by ES4560 ).
