BS5543 - Car Starting, Unlocking and Flat Tire Assistance

    To provide assistance with car problems.
     
  2. Procedure
    1. Calls for assistance with vehicle problems on the Ankeny Campus should be directed to Security at extension 5-6500 or 964-6500, or the Physical Plant at extension 5-6253. At Urban Campus, calls for assistance should be directed to Security at extension 5-7200 or 248-7200.
    2. Services available
      1. Battery jumpstarts - Security will not provide any mechanical tools or technical mechanical knowledge for starting vehicles. Security will assist in calling a towing company, calling someone to arrange for transportation, and allowing a driver and occupants to enter a building for shelter from inclement weather conditions. A signed release by the driver will be obtained by Security before work is performed.
      2. Unlock vehicles - If Security is unable to unlock a vehicle, they will assist in calling a locksmith and arranging transportation. A signed release by the driver will be obtained by Security before work is performed.
      3. Tire inflation - Security will provide a tank of compressed air to inflate a low tire.
    3. Assistance for any other type of vehicle service, i.e., tire changes, push starts, defective equipment, etc., should be referred to a service station or garage.
